Doug & Amy's Wedding & Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend, Doug and Amy, tied the knot! We took Jayden along with us and then headed down to Mt. Carmel for the rest of the weekend. Jayden was a dancing fool!

First family picture we have had in a long time!
Doug and Amy's First Dance followed by all the single men on the dance floor. Yep, Jayden was out there too!

Grandpa Acree has been working on his 1959 Ford for a while and it looks great. We tried to get Jayden to take a picture with it, but he woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Ending the weekend with visiting the Willis side of the family and Jayden enjoying a happy meal from McDonalds.

2 more months until 2

Jayden is 22 months old today. That is only 2 months away from the "Terrible Two's". Yikes!!

1. We weighed Jayden and he tipped the scale at 23.5 lbs. Pretty skinny if you ask me! We started to give him a daily vitamin in his milk each morning due to his lack of eating. I am sure he should be getting some anyways!
2. He is still a diaper man--size 4. He sits on his potty when he feels like it. Last week he made it for 23 seconds. He is fitting best into size 18 month clothes, but he can wear 24 months.
3. Jayden is still obsessed with basketball. He often says "shoot it", "yes!!", and "I did it". He just loves sports. He is also in love with his slide "It's my slide" he says when he goes down. He must go down the slide each day when we get home.
4. His favorite toy is a tie between the basketball hoop, the slide, and the ipad. He loves all three. I am sure if he could get away with it, that is all he would do all day. Shoot a hoop, go down the slide, and say names of shapes.
5. He is eating ok. I would like him to eat more, but he is getting better. He runs off every single calorie that he eats. Lucky.
6. He still likes warm milk. Actually, he loves it.
7. The tooth that poked through last month is still working on coming in. We dealt with strep throat last month, but his ears were clear when we went to the doctor!
8. A new trick Jayden has is getting his own shoes on in the morning. He loves his blue Crocs and puts them on each day when it is time to go. It really saves time for me!
9. His sleeping is getting so much better. He sleeps all night and generally 3 hours during the day. The only problem we have is getting him to sleep at night. He likes to stay up to 9, but I would like to see him in bed in the 8 o'clock hour!
10. Jayden has been a talker this month. It is crazy to think only a few months ago he could only say around 30 words and now he has to be close to 100. He knows almost all of his shapes plus crazy ones such as cylinder, octagon, pentagon, and diamond. He knows tons of different animals, but my favorite is when he says "elephant" or more like "elfent". He also knows how to say his name and point to himself, but only does it on rare occasions. He can recognize the letter J, A, and E when he sees his name. Our work on the alphabet will be in full force this summer.

Happy 22 month birthday, Jayden!! Your almost two and we can't wait to see how you are going to grow and change this summer. I am so excited to spend the summer at home with you, go on walks, take you to swim lessons, play at the water park with friends, swing on the swing and slide on the slide and teach you as much as I can and love on you all day! We love you, Jayden!! You are perfect!!

It's a Toad

One part of being a Mom to a boy is to learn about gross things you can find in the yard. Today, Jayden picked up a toad. Yuck!

It got away from him a few times, but he got it back!!
When he caught it he said, "It's a toad."
I, of course, screamed little a wimpy little girl. But he was happy. I guess it is time for me to get use to having a big boy around who isn't afraid of little animals or getting dirty. Before I know it, I am going to be finding bugs in his pockets and worms under his pillows. Yuck!!

Dancing King

Jayden was the King of the dance floor this weekend at Clayton and Kelli's wedding reception. Once the band started, he was running around like a crazy man.

He met up with his old friend Zane who is a few months younger than him. He also met up with another little one his age.
The little kids dominated the dance floor and plenty of adults gathered around with their cameras. It was pretty funny to watch the little kids have fun. Jayden and I crashed early and enjoyed 11 hours of sleep Saturday night. I am glad his dancing allowed him to sleep. It was so nice to sleep past 7 am.

This is a picture of Jayden and Zane from November 2009. They sure have grown since then!!

Madeline is 11

Madeline is 11!! We celebrated with her this week with dinner at Kreigers.

I asked Jayden what he wanted to get her for her birthday and he said "apple". So that is what we got her plus a new game for the xbox.
Jayden loved the cupcakes and the fact that basketball was on right next to us. Needless to say, dinner was peaceful.
Happy 11th Birthday, Madeline!! We love you!!

Fun With My Girls

The last few weekends I have been lucky enough to spend some time with my mommy friends. It looks like we have a few more girl weekends in the near future as well.
Amy, Sarah, Kristy and I celebrate this weekend with Paul and Jesse's wedding reception. In three more weekends, we will be celebrating Amy's marriage to my good friend Doug.
So of course to celebrate that, last weekend we headed out for a night of girl fun before Amy ties the knot. Meredith, our DD, graciously drove us around Springfield.
Only 6 more weeks and we will be headed to Nashville for our girls trip. Looking forward to more time with my girls!!

Jayden

These are just a few of my favorites that I recently took of Jayden. I sent them to a professional lab to be printed and they look awesome! Just thought I would share. I sure learned a lot from my camera class.

Sunday Funday

We packed up and headed out for an early Mother's Day adventure today which included a trip to the St. Louis Zoo. The weather looked perfect, the sun was shining, and the outlook for next Sunday calls for rain. Once we arrived, it was a bit cooler than I hoped, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Jayden slept the entire way down (and so did Aaron) so he was (they were) nice and happy once we arrived. Here are a few pics from our day. Jayden's favorite animal was by far the elephant and in second place was the monkey. We had to start heading home before the rain hit, so we didn't get to check out the reptile house. That is on the list for next year!
