Jayden is 2 1/2!

Jayden is half  year away from three.....here are his two and a half year old stats!
Last week was actually his half birthday....and yes, the picture is a few months old, but I think he looks the same :) Maybe a few pounds heavier.
Thank you Pinterest for the clever idea!

A Visit from Great Grandma and Grandpa Acree

Today we had special visitors come to our house. Great Grandma and Grandpa Acree were in the area for a conference and were able to stop by for a visit. After several years of little boys blessing the Acree family, Grandma got her hands on two little girls! Now she gets to stop at both the boy and girl sections on her shopping adventures to the Attic!
The girls now have a few more outfits complete with matching bibs and hair bows to add to their collection. Jayden got a new book that kept him happy. He also showed off his latest dance moves.

Sweet girl and sweet pea were on their best behavior, ate like little champions, and enjoyed a little nap. They sure are growing fast!

Jayden..Ice Cream...Camera

Jayden now thinks it is funny when I take his picture and he has to "review" it after the flash goes off each time.
His favorite move is to close his eyes right when the flash goes off. I guess that is what you do when you are 2.5 years old!

About the only time I can take his picture is when he is eating ice cream so expect a spoon in his pictures from here on out!

Our Little Models

The babies had their final newborn session with a friend from Taylorville. She ventured over to our house to take some pictures of the girls and gain some practice with newborns. I think the pictures turned out great!

These two pictures (and girls) are my favorite that I have seen from her collection.

If you are in the Tville area and need a photographer, April does a great job. Check out her site at www.aprilmateerphotography.com

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest and doing baby chick pictures with her this spring!

A Visit with Nanny & Poppa

The girls took a trip to Taylorville and visited Nanny and Poppa on Wednesday.
They took the famous twin picture with them!
Jayden had fun playing with a box the other night and was finding creative ways to use the box. It was a hat, a stand, and a place to hide.
All the while, Amelia enjoyed a nap!
Adalyn enjoyed her Wubbanub!

Newborn Pictures....Again

The girls had another newborn session with a local photographer who needed newborns to try out some of her props. For a long day in the studio, the little ones did a great job.

One more session to model for on Friday. There is another Taylorville photographer who would like to get her practice in with a set of twins! It sure has been a busy week for these two!

Newborn Pictures

Our photographer friend, Jessica,  ventured over to our house today to take some newborn pictures of the girls. It was quite an experience watching her get two babies perfectly positioned while they dozed in and out of sleep. Here are a few of the shots she posted to Facebook:

Thanks, Jessica, for your time and talent! We love the pictures and can't wait to see the rest. As I have told my friends time and again, if you need a photographer in our area you know who to call!

It's a Twin Thing

There is something that I am never going to really understand.....what it is like to have a twin sister or brother.
But I have been around enough twins to know a few things....or two.

What I do know is this:
Sometimes people can't tell them apart in pictures and sometimes in person. Twin can finish the sentence for the "other one" and laugh when people get them mixed up.
Twins grow up to be best friends and buy each other the same gifts without knowing.
Twins fight like all siblings do, but they just can't seem to get away from each other at the end of the day.

It's a good thing we know a lot of twins, because we have a lot to learn about seeing double! Thanks to our twin visitors, Lisa and Kara & Adan and Livia, we had over the weekend!! Now all we need is Ellee and Emlyn and my Mom and Aunt Lori then we can get a really crazy picture!

Amelia's Well Baby Check

Sweet pea had her first well baby check today. She weighed in at a whopping 4 lbs. 14 oz. (1%) and measured 18.5" long (18%). She is to continue to eat every three hours throughout the day and night. Doctor is very happy with her growth considering her "past". Amelia also has to go for a hip ultrasound in two weeks because she was a breech baby. Poor girl doesn't get a break. However, her heart sonogram came back more positive in our favor than negative. She does not have to see a pediatric cardiologist as the doctors had originally thought.  Both girls will return for another weight check on February 1.

Big brother is starting to be more involved with the girls too. He checks on them when they are crying just make sure everything is ok. With time, I am sure he will start to love them even more.

PS: Thanks to the Giger family for letting us borrow their travel pack n' play. It is the perfect size for our Amelia!

Our Little College Student

We call Amelia our little college student right now. We pay for her room and board, send her food, do her laundry, but she hasn't been home for a visit! She's gained weight, her hair has grown and she is the prettiest girl in the entire nursery! She has spent the first two weeks of her life listening to doctors and nurses. A future in medicine for sweet pea? Yes, I think so. She's got the look!

We are pretty sure we will be bringing her home tomorrow so no more daily visits and crazy hats from Mom's Mom, lunchtime feedings from Aunt Jane or party time at 3:30 am with cousin Kati. They will just have to come visit get at home!

See you in the morning sweet pea! Looking forward to seeing you and your sister back together for the first time in two weeks!

Happy 2 week birthday!!

Amelia's Echocardiogram

Sweet pea had her echocardiogram or sonogram of her heart today. The man took around 70 images of her little beating heart. It was neat to see, but I really didn't understand the different images. I know it didn't hurt our little baby, but I thought she needed me to hold her little hand. The final readings will be read tonight and reported back to us tomorrow. We also found out that if she can make it to Wednesday without a spell, she will be coming home!

Our pediatrician reported to me today that research concludes that after five days being apeana free, newborns are generally over their spells. This was great news to my ears! I think I will sleep with my eyes open for the first few nights she is home, but I think everyone in my shoes would too!

Adalyn's Well Baby Check

Today Miss Adalyn had her first "well baby check" with our favorite pediatrician. She weighed 5.5, which is back to her birth weight (1%) and is now 19 1/2 inches long (21%). These are on a normal curve for a full term baby. I'm pretty sure she is going to be tall and skinny!

We go back in two weeks for another weight check. He called her perfect and doesn't have any worries or concerns about her health! This is exactly what I wanted to hear!

Our Missing Piece

Sweet pea Amelia is the only one left to make the car ride home. Jayden came home today after a week long stay with his Nana. We are so happy to have him home! He looks like a giant compared to the tiny little girls we have been holding for the past week. He wasn't sure what to think of Adalyn and really wanted nothing to do with her when he got home. I guess we forgot to tell him there would be a baby here when he returned. After a while, he warmed up to the idea, told his sister good night, and finished his nighttime routine.

Little Amelia is still in the hospital and I have no idea when she will be coming home to make our family complete. She has been gaining weight (now at her birth weight 4.7), keeping warm on her own, out eating her minimum amount and hasn't had a spell in a few days. I don't want to rush her homecoming in any way, but I am ready for some goals to be set so we can work towards the day she comes home. It is really sad to see her lay in her little bed all alone hooked up to monitors. I am pretty sure I could watch her at home hooked up to these machines. She did, however, pass the car seat test without a problem!

Tonight's car ride home from the hospital wasn't an easy one compared to the million other trips I have made. Our visit was quick and I was so sad to leave her, but at the same time I had no choice because two other little ones were at home waiting too. Talk about stretching yourself in a million directions.

Keep growing, staying warm, and breathing on your own sweet pea! We want you home or at least a date to look forward too if all continues to go in the right directions. I know the nurses are going to miss you because all they do is brag about how sweet and perfect you are, but I am pretty sure it is my turn to do that!

This picture is for those of you who haven't had the opportunity to see Amelia in person. The pictures we take make her look a lot bigger than she actually is. Her head is about the same size as the palm of my hand. She is a tiny little girl! I totally see my future of shopping for long and slim jeans for these girls because they have their momma's long arms and legs!

Sooo Sleepy!!

We've got ourselves some really sleepy girls!

Just a little update

Amelia had another spell on January 12, so her coming home date will be later than expected. Her poppy fed her last night and she did great! He thinks that she is going to be a basketball player because of her long arms!

Adalyn did a good job sleeping her first night home. We woke her every 3 hours for a feeding. After, she would suck on her binki for a few minutes then fell asleep. At 6:30 she was wide awake!

Adalyn's Last Day at St. John's

We walked into St. John's to see a sleeping girl.

We left with our girl in pink and just as sleepy!

Only our little sweet girl would pick the first snow day of the year to come home! Hopefully our little Amelia will be home next week at this time!

Wide Awake!

The girls were wide awake for our visits last night!
