Always Busy

What stated out as taking pictures of a bad hair day, turned into watching the little man play and stay busy. He will run to the basket and shoot for 2 if anyone starts counting down: 3....2.....1......buzzzz!
He was so focused when playing with his blocks and knew exactly what he wanted to build. He didn't like that I was trying to give him pieces to add to his tower, so I just observed. In the meantime, I did capture a pretty good picture of his bad hair day.

Good hair day or bad hair day---he is still pretty cute and very determined to accomplish his goal!

Reading a Book

When we came home tonight, Jayden ran over to his book and started babbling. I kept hearing him say "no". Too cute not to record. I should have just recorded him reading the entire book, but this is good enough for today. Hopefully, he doesn't start telling us no!

Sunday Funday

Today was a not so typical Sunday. It was more like a "Sunday Funday". It's not everyday that you get to run outside and play in the snow......

or play hide-and-seek while Mommy hides with her camera.

It's not every Sunday when your Great-Grandpa comes up and brings you a new book.

Or when your Great-Grandma tells your Grandpa, "We can't buy just one. We need to buy all three."

But it is not a "Sunday Funday" when you have a giant bruise on your head. But playing in the snow, playing hide and seek, reading books with Great-Grandma and Grandpa, and EVEN Skyping with your Nana makes your goose egg not feel so bad and your "Sunday Funday" is fun again.

Hope everyone else had a Sunday Funday. We sure did.

18 Months old!

Jayden is 18 months old today! This past year and a half has flown by and I am sure it is going to continue to keep on passing quickly. We have so much to look forward to in the coming months. I can't believe our baby will be 2 in six short months!

1. Jayden weighs 21 lbs and 14 oz. This is only 4 more ounces than he was last month. He eats a lot but he runs off almost all of calories everyday! He is 31.25 inches long. It seems like his legs are growing longer because his jeans are getting too short. Thank goodness. I hope he has long legs like his momma.
2. He is wearing size 4 diapers and sometimes a 5 (when needed) and wears 18-24 month clothing. I have tried to sit him on his potty chair, but he wants nothing to do with that. We will try again next month. When he is ready, which will be around next year at this time, he will use it. He has had 3 haircuts and I can see number 4 around the corner.
3. He still loves to climb and his love for that will never die. He can now successfully go down the stairs on his own. We do give him the opportunity to go up and down while we are watching almost everyday. I decided it was important for him to know how to able to go down safely rather than have an accident. However, last night while on the bottom stairs he fell straight on his face. He had a little bloody nose and he has a HUGE goose egg on his forehead. Poor baby. We are still keeping the gate up, but maybe by this summer, we will be able to eliminate it at least at the bottom of the stairs.
4. He loves to play with all of his toys from Christmas. He especially loves his farm and Mickey train. He goes down his slide at least once a day and we brought his basketball hoop back out of storage. He loves to play ball and hide and seek.
5. J is still picky with the foods he will eat and will not eat. I still have not been very successful when it comes to serving him veggies. He has eaten ham, bologna, and turkey for lunch which is a great change to just chicken, mac n' cheese, and pizza! Sometimes he doesn't care to eat dinner, but I know he has eaten breakfast and lunch so I do not force it.
6. He is still drinking milk and formula. He doesn't prefer one over the other or turn one down for something else as long as it is warm. I think he will always be a milk drinker!
7. MORE teeth! I am not sure when he is going to stop getting teeth, but another is trying to cut through.
8. Jayden is really starting to test us when it comes to sitting in a high chair at a restaurant, sitting in a shopping cart, and even sitting in his stroller. He likes to scream until he gets his way. I try to keep him in the cart as long as possible or until I get enough looks from people at the store. We left a restaurant for the first time last week because he wouldn't stop screaming. We hadn't even sat down yet. Of course, as soon as we left he was fine. He was acting just like babycenter.com told me he would.
9. I have been impressed with his sleeping the past month. We haven't had many night of him waking up. Maybe it is due to routine or maybe he is figuring out we are not going to come and get him. Whatever it is, I hope it continues. He is still napping well during the day too. He sleeps around 3 hours on most days.
10. As always, Jayden is growing intellectually. He will finally point to his head, eyes, nose, ears, mouth, teeth, and belly when we ask him. Before it was all just his head or eyes. He has been counting like crazy and loves numbers--especially 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. He has been "talking" a lot more than he did last month and will go on and on and on. We have been encouraging him to use his words rather than screaming when we wants something. However, he is only 1 and a half and that is what you do when you are 18 months. Which reminds me, when you are 18 months old, you get in trouble. Jayden had his first time out on Friday at the sitters. I guess he was ready for summer and started splashing in the dog water bowl thinking it was his pool. Hopefully he learned his lesson.....

Happy 18 Month Birthday to our little man!! We love you more than you will ever know!!

Snow Pictures

To celebrate Jayden being almost a year and a half, we had a photo session in the snow. We were not there very long because Jayden wasn't too thrilled about taking pictures outside. Here are the best ones from our photo shoot.

New Cleaning Lady, I mean Boy

We all know I am allergic to cleaning. Really. I am. However, it is something that must be done. I am glad that I have a little boy who loves to clean so he can help out when it is needed.
He is very good at running the vacuum cleaner and very good at taking a ride when he gets tried. I wish I could find a real cleaning lady to come to my house. Until then, I will just take what I can get....even if it is from a 1 year old.

Getting Smarter Everyday

Jayden was impressing me last night with his little tricks. I wish every Mom was equipped with a "built-in video camera" to catch all of the moments you wish you had on camera. As we were climbing the stairs to take a bath, we were counting as we always do. When we got to five, he followed by saying, "six, seven, eight, nine". WHAT??? I've heard him say six several times, but I have never heard him follow with seven, eight, nine.

When we were upstairs getting ready for the bath, Jayden was playing with his shapes. Time and time again he kept putting the right shape into the cutout. He did it several times in a row. I was really proud of him because he usually just plays with the same two shapes and this time he was using all four. This was the second time I could have used my "built-in video camera".

After I got his jammies on him and we headed downstairs, I decided to push my luck. He didn't count as much as he did for me the first time but listen to what numbers he says after five. Bravo, Jayden! We are proud of you!!

Playing with Payton

Our friends Brittany, Tyler, Payton and Madelyn came to down last week to go shopping at Jensen's for a new couch. Payton stayed with us for a little while so Brittany and Tyler could actually look at furniture rather than chase Payton around. Jayden and Payton played with the Mickey Mouse train for a little while before he destroyed it.
They enjoyed a little snack and some apple juice.

Payton loved playing with all of Jayden's boy toys. Soon enough, we will head over to their house and play with Payton's girl toys!

Thanks, Payton for coming to play with us! We had a lot of fun!

Winter Break 2010 and looking forward to Spring Break 2011

Winter break was so enjoyable this year as it is every year, but the time passed way too quickly. We had a lot of fun with both family and friends while Aaron and I enjoyed time off from work. We really enjoyed visiting with Adam while he was home and this gave us a great idea for Spring Break 2011. It isn't anything crazy like traveling to Panama City Beach like most would want to do on Spring Break. We both actually went to PCB and stayed at the same hotel, at the same time. Small world, isn't it??
Instead of the beach, we are going to head towards the mountains and visit Adam in Denver! Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and we will be able to enjoy walking around downtown. I would be happy with 65 degrees or higher, but I will be happy with whatever Mother Nature has in store for us!
Above are just a few pictures of the city and the hotel we will be staying in. I can't wait to visit a new city outside of the airport! It will also be Jayden's first flight~which makes me a bit nervous. Nana and Pawpaw will be with us too so things will be a lot easier to manage.
I hope you are ready for us, Adam. We will be there in 10 weeks and 4 days not that anyone is counting :)

Cheers to a New Year~ Welcome 2011

Cheers to a New Year! We rang in the New Year with some of our best friends just as we did last year. We enjoyed conversing, eating delicious food, watching the little boys play, playing a new group game, and enjoying each other's company. We are all looking forward to what 2011 brings for our little families. In our little group, there is a lot in store for 2011. Doug and Amy will be married in May, Tyson and Sarah are expecting baby #2, and Jason and Kristy will be welcoming their first born. Sounds like a great year ahead. Thanks, Sarah--I swiped this from your facebook :)
Our little group of girls who will be going on a summer trip to Nashvegas in June! I can't wait for a much needed trip with the girls!

This is the second New Years for both Jayden and Henry and they have spent both of them together! Jayden only made it until 9pm, but Henry was up to ring in the New Year with the rest of the adults. Little Layne came too, but he was in bed while the boys were playing blocks.
