J's new hat

Jayden got a new hat this weekend so he can keep his head protected from the sun when go on our walks this summer. I think Jayden looks pretty cute in his hat

Human Foosball

Jayden played his first game of human foosball on Thursday night with his Grandpa and Madeline while I was busy with homework. He would watch the ball roll to him and get really excited. He knew to lift his leg to get ready to kick the ball and would kick it back with a little help.
Stopping the ball so it didn't get past for a goal.
Smiling and laughing while waiting for the next ball to come.

7 months old

Jayden's 7 month update is listed a few posts below this one. I had typed it this weekend and saved it, so it posted with that date. Here he is tonight with the nice scratch on his face.
He is getting soo big!!

Jayden is ready for summer

Tonight while Aaron worked, Jayden and I went through his clothes to take out the ones that are too small. I found a pair of swimming trunks in his drawer, so I had him try them on. He looked pretty cute in his trunks.
Looking at his belly and thinking about if he should slim down for the summer. Nah--his belly is cute! All three of us are ready for summer or at least weather that includes daily sunshine!

He likes to scoot

Jayden had some tummy time this evening in order to help him learn to crawl. He started at his farm toy and was happy to stop and smile for a picture.
A few minutes later, he had moved to the other side of the toy.
Then he decided he wanted to play with something else. He was still happy to smile for me.

Looks like crawling may be around the corner a lot sooner than we thought. This time I could not get his attention. He was consumed in something better than his Mommy.

Jayden is 7 months old!

Baby Jayden is 7 months old today. He has changed so much since last month in so many different ways. Here he is this morning after waking up from his early morning nap 5:30-6:30.

1. On our scale at home, Jayden is weighing in at over 17 lbs. When I measured him, I found that he is 27" long. The baby car seat is getting too small for Mr. Jayden. It is time to invest in a new seat!

2. He is wearing size 9 month clothes and pajamas. He is now ready to move into 12 month clothing. He needs the length for the pajamas. His feet are pushing at the edges. Diapers are still a size 3. Shoe size 4.

3. Rolling over is a success! He can roll over when he wants to. He is not a crazy baby that rolls all over the house. He would rather push himself backwards to go anywhere. Crawling is in the near future. We are going to have to baby proof soon!

4. Sitting up is a lot easier now as well. He can sit for long periods of time without falling over. We are still very careful with him while he is sitting. His little car gets a lot more use too. He can go up and down the kitchen without even thinking twice. He can drive all the way from the kitchen to the dining room and all the way around the table and back without any problems.

5. Bottles have become much easier for Jayden to take. He is now up to drinking 6 oz in one sitting. He is liking formula a lot more and is only getting nursed once a day--well, sometimes twice.

6.Bananas, peas, green beans, mixed cereal, apples and cinnamon rice cereal are among the top favorites when it is time to eat.

7. No, he still doesn't have any teeth. They are coming, we just don't know when.

8. His hair is really growing. I spike it each time we have a bath. It is not the best looking on him, but it is really funny. His nails are growing like crazy too. Today he scratched his face pretty bad. That is why the top picture is one from early this morning instead of tonight.

9. He sleeps in his own bed, every night, all night. There are times when he does wake around 4 and cries for a few minutes. Most night he sleeps straight through. He wakes around 5:30 in the morning and watches two of his favorite shows: Handy Manny and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

10. Dancing, laughing, spitting, and saying mama are his other milestone for the month. His favorite song is the alphabet and he loves to read books. Counting to 5 really makes him smile. We are currently working on waving bye-bye. Hopefully, he will master that soon.

11. He is such a happy baby and gets complimented everywhere we go with his attentiveness, happiness, and cuteness. We are so blessed to have him in our lives.

Daddy Day Care-Day #2

The last shot of daddy day care. Hmmm....I guess the both deserve some fun after a long, rainy day at home.
Daddy Day Care is in action again today. While I have been resting, proofing, keeping my germs away, I have also been spying on the boys. Here is what I have captured thus far today: Hanging out, jumping, and dancing in his jumper while Daddy Day Care does the laundry, fold clothes, and makes the bed. Impressive!

Nap time in his swing that he is clearly to big for, but what ever works, right? I think he has 3 more pounds to go until he is officially too heavy to swing. Maybe we will keep the swing out for his little friends when they come over to play.

Go Illini + A Groggy Weekend

On Saturday, Aaron had to work at the home builders show in Springfield until 12. Jayden and I got up at 9:00, ate some breakfast and then quickly went back to bed~with phone on silent. I did not feel very well at all. My allergies had been horrible all week and now I felt like I had the flu. Jayden watched Mickey Mouse for 30 minutes, slept with me for an hour and a half, and played his in room for 20 minutes while I stayed in bed. Thank goodness for the video monitor! Of course, I had soo much homework to accomplish on Saturday so Aaron had Daddy Day Care. No homework was started until 3 because I simply did not have the energy. Just as I began to work, Jayden and Aaron returned home at 4. Jayden was being a "crybaby" during the game and that wasn't going to work for those who were trying to watch. So much for homework.
After being a little cry baby at our friends house, Jayden left and found a new friend, his Grandpa. They went to the high school basketball game so I could get my paper done. Jayden entertained the crowd at the basketball game with his dancing. Of course, everyone thought he was cute. Worn out from his day, he went to sleep like a good boy at 9. I then was able to finish the first draft of my paper (21 pages).
Jayden and Aaron headed over to a friend's house to watch the Illini game. No luck for the Illini and no luck for Jayden. Unfortunately, he was whiny and had to be brought back home to a sick Mommy.

Today, I am feeling a bit better, but not 100% by any means. Meredith's baby shower was up north today and I decided not to attend after I woke up not feeling well this morning. I sure hate to miss it, but I would really hate to get someone else sick, especially Meredith. She has 4 more weeks to go! My hopes for today are that Aaron and Jayden can stay germ free. I suppose I could always blame my sickness on the cafeteria food at school. Lunch on Friday was not very good at all. I hope that next weekend is much better!

Splish, Splash!

Jayden loves his bath! We are currently in search of a bath ring for him to use in the tub, but Babies R' Us does not have them in stock. They suggested to use the Bumbo seat instead. We gave it a try and Jayden loved it. He was able to sit up while splashing! He even was able to play with his little duck. Of course, during his bath, I had to spike his hair. He is just too funny!

6 month shots....a little late

Jayden received his 6 month shots this past week. I wasn't able to go with him, as the appointment time conflicted with my work schedule. My mom was able to take him and told me that it was very sad, but he did a good job. He did cry for mama after his shots, but was able to snuggle with Great-Grandma afterwards.
Here is buddy boy before his bath on his shot day. He had 3 shots. He does not go back until after August 18th. Hopefully, I will be able to take him to the next appointment.

He gets what he wants!

Jayden is getting really good with his car. He can turn himself around and pretty much maneuver wherever he wants to go. Sometimes he decides he needs to find his way out of the kitchen and all the way into the dining room. On this particular day, he decided that he wanted to get his toys from the high chair. He ran into the high chair, turned and eventually got his toys. He was pretty happy!

Valentine's Day

On Sunday, Jayden celebrated his first Valentine's Day! He opened up his cards and got dresses in his Valentine's outfit and new Nike shoes. Aaron and Jayden got out of bed early and let me sleep in. They had cinnamon rolls and flowers waiting for me when I came down stairs. It was nice to sleep in and very nice to wake up to a baby screaming mama.

Around 11, Aaron and I headed to St. Louis with the Doan's for the St. Louis Boat Show. I wasn't so sure about the boat show, but it was actually a good time. We also had time to shop by the Galleria before heading out to dinner. The snow was falling all day and made a beautiful scence, but the drive home made me so nervous! The road were almost, if not, 100% fully covered in ice and snow. Overall, our day was awesome.

Here are some pictures of Jayden on Valentine's Day.

Mama

Jayden was caught saying mama again, so I used my camera phone to catch him saying mama. The quality is very bad, but you can hear him say mama at the end of the video.

Big Bite

Jayden has been cracking us up when he eats lately. He has been opening his mouth as far as he possibly can when he sees the spoon. Of course, as soon as the video camera is out, he doesn't do and is happy just to smile and look at the camera. Towards the end of this video he opens his mouth for a big bite.

Mama

Yesterday when I was getting ready for work Jayden was watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in our bedroom. He was babbling and I thought I heard him say "mama". I went in and talked to him and then went back to get ready. He said it again when I was gone, so of course, I went to talk to him. That night, we went out to dinner and Jayden was in his carseat at the table. He started to whine a little and said "mama" again. Aaron didn't really believe it, but then Jayden said it again. We decided to document that "mama" is Jayden's first word.

Where's Jayden??

Jayden's new toy box is assembled and in his toy room ready to be filled with toys. His downstairs crib has also been taken down and put away. We decided to turn the green room into more of a toy room so as he becomes more mobile, we can keep his toys in one place while at the same time establishing nap time in his bedroom upstairs. He really likes the new walker he got for Christmas. He can't use it on his own, but he loves to hold on with someone behind him.

Super Bowl 2010

For Jayden's first Super Bowl, we enjoyed the evening with our friends. We headed out to Meredith & Patrick's house and spent the evening with the Giger's, Doan's, Doug & Amy, and Aaron Allen. The food was great, the commercials were funny, and the company was perfect. Jayden zonked out for a while, but woke when all of the boys started cheering. We were hoping for a Colts victory, but was happy to see the Saints win their 1st superbowl.
Jayden hung out with his buddy Jason for a while. He was such a good boy, except when the boys started yelling. It scared the little man.

Maddie's Last Game

Madeline had her last 4th grade basketball game of the season on Sunday. We headed out to see what her team could do. They really improved over the past few months. Madeline wasn't afraid to go after the ball. They ended up winning by a long shot!
Jayden loved the basketball game. He just watches the girls run after the ball. Everyone there just thought he was the cutest thing ever!

A Visit with Reagan, Adan, & Livia

Reagan, Adan, and Livia came over and played with Jayden on Saturday night while Aaron and I went to watch the Illini game. I am pretty sure all 4 of them had a lot of fun. Jayden slept the entire night without waking until 6 am!
Look at sweet Jayden after he ate his breakfast Saturday morning.

Soo tired!

Over the weekend, we headed out to THS to watch the boys varisty basketball game. Jayden LOVED all the players and the cheerleaders. On the way home, he feel asleep because he was so worn out!

He wants to crawl...

Jayden has been getting tummy time on a nightly basis. Generally he tugs at the carpet and fidgets around. Tonight, he really pushed his chest up high like he was ready to go somewhere. Maybe crawling will be right around the corner.

A Visit with Jordan

Jordan came over for dinner the other night and played with Jayden for a little bit while we cleaned up the kitchen. Jayden kept turning around to look at Jordan and would laugh. It was really funny!

Little Monkey

These pictures are a few weeks old, but I just was looking through the "January Jayden picture folder" and found them. These are the new jammies that Meredith and Patrick bought Jayden for Christmas along with the monkey the bought him before he was born. We are looking forward to the arrival of Baby Haugens in March. I am sure Baby H and Jayden are going to have a lot of fun together over the years!
