Baby Bump 8, 10, 12

Here is the bump! To you, it may seem small, but to me I am growing. I am still wearing my normal clothes with the buttons buttoned up. Hopefully, I can hang on a while longer with my own normal clothes before I raid my friends for their maternity clothes. With Jayden, I took pictures but never posted on them on the blog. I thought since there is two this time, it calls for posting. We are going to take pictures every two week, standing in the same spot, with the same camera (messed that up week 12). Who knows, maybe I will keep wearing the same colored shirt too. Ok, that was by pure accident. I just really like the color pink :)
I really wish I would have had an "official" before picture, but I don't, so this one below will have to do! I can just picture the tan skin and flat stomach coming back to me next summer.....or maybe the summer after.

So long flat belly and tan skin. I will miss you, but I am pretty sure I am getting the better end of the deal.

Dr. Appointments...for all 5 of us!!

It was a busy day today. I'm sure our insurance company is wondering what is going on with the Acree family and their doctor visits.

Aaron headed to Prompt Care to have a doctor check out his foot after his weekend mishap. Result: broken toe. He has a black shoes to wear, antibiotics to take, as well as pain killers. He is to report to a foot specialists tomorrow at 9 am.

Jayden had his 2 year check-up and all went well. He is a whopping 25.2 lbs.(15%)  and 34.5 inches long (50%). I had to fill out a long questionnaire about Jayden and his different motor skills. I couldn't remember if he could jump with both feet coming off the ground or just one, so I asked him to jump, and yes, he can. He did it several times and thought it was funny. He scored extremely high overall. We do need to work on mimic writing where I draw a line and then he repeats my drawing. We haven't tried that one yet.

Baby A, Baby B, and I were all checked out by the doctor as well. I have lost 2 lbs. since last week which will be easily put back on within the next few days I am sure. Baby A had a heartbeat of 170 and looked quite comfortable taking up as much space as needed. Baby B had a heartbeat of 168 and looked a little scrunched up being on the bottom. My predictions are that Baby A is going to be high maintenance like Momma and Baby B is going to be calm and go with the flow like Daddy. Just a guess by seeing them the past three times. They each seem to trend after Aaron and I.

Above: Baby A relaxing and having all the room in the world.
Below: Baby B turned facing us because Baby A is taking all the room.
Oh, and those 2 lbs., I lost, are back. I just enjoyed 3 leftover cupcakes from Jayden's birthday. All 3 of us needed one to ourselves. Next appointment is scheduled for August 30 at 3:30 when we hope to see what Baby A and Baby B are gender wise. I am ready to give them names and stop calling them A and B.

Just for a reminder about the little one below--at 12 weeks he had a heartbeat of 160. Although heartbeats and gender do not correlate, I think it is neat how they all are in the 160-170 range at both 8 and 12 weeks.

The Magic House

Today we went down to The Magic House in St. Louis to celebrate Jayden's birthday. He was such a happy boy, all day, and it made for the perfect little birthday adventure! He played with bubbles, blocks, magnets, and we ended the day with some ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jayden!!

Our sweet little boy is TWO today! The past two years of our lives have flashed by so fast and have been filled with great memories of a sweet little boy who loves his Mommy and Daddy.

Dear Jayden-

Happy Birthday little man!!! You are TWO today although you think you are still one. You can tell us what the number two is when we show you and you get really excited to see a 2. The past year of your life went faster than I ever thought especially with all of the ear infections and other sicknesses we had to overcome. You were a sick little boy! This year you had your first ever surgery and made it through like a champ! When we got home you played basketball and acted like nothing had ever happen. Speaking of basketball, you are quite the little baller. I am hoping your hours of practice pays off in YMCA basketball and all the way to high school. We will still cheer you on and talk about how you are the best even if you aren't because that is what parents do. But I know your going to be awesome, so let's not worry about that right now.

You also found your love for the outdoors this year and shed a lot of tears when I make you come in from going down the slide or swinging on the swing. Almost every time you see a slide, you feel the need to slide down it. If we don't let you, you cry. That is the same for basketball hoops. Sometimes we hide your eyes from basketball hoops because you want to "shoot it" so bad. I hope your love for playing outside lasts forever. That is just like your Dad. Acree boys are just simply made for the outdoors.

We traveled a lot of different places this year and attended some weddings of our good friends. You found your love for dancing and danced the night away on several occasions. It was pretty cute. Keep those dance moves with you. You will need them in college, trust me. We also went to Santa Claus, IN this summer and acted like such a big boy. You went down the water slides all by yourself and didn't want to stop. You and I have been to Knight's Action Park quite a few times this summer too. You love to go down the slide and you have even went under water a few times, but your a natural. Your Dad is sure that your going to be on a wakeboard before we know it. We will see about that!

This coming year is also going to be a very special year for you. You get to be a big brother two times over! Although you don't understand what that means right now, I think you are going to be perfect. You are a leader, a helper, and I have a feeling you are going to conspire with your siblings because you are so creative. Both your Dad and I are the oldest and we think being the oldest has the most advantages, but don't tell the babies that. You got to spend two whole years alone with just us with all the attention on you! None of your other siblings are ever going to be able to say that!

Your vocabulary has grown by leaps and bounds this year. Each month I get more and more impressed with the words you will say or repeat after me. You make simple requests when you want something and other times you whine. I don't blame you. I whine too. You love your milk in the morning and chug it like you have been thirsty all night long. You finally started sleeping through the night after your tubes. Thank you!! Some children your age are getting moved to a big boy bed, but I don't think you are ready yet. You would escape too easily from a big kid bed and I am not ready for that.  Something else I am not ready for....going back to work. I have loved staying home with you this summer. We both sleep past 8:00 am every morning. It is awesome! We spend the day talking, reading, playing toys, napping, eating, running, shooting hoops, playing with friends, and doing everything and anything we want. It is awesome! You also are obsessed with Mickey Mouse and could seriously watch it all day if someone let you. I think Mickey has taught you a few things because sometimes I don't know where you learned what you know. You are such a smart boy!

We are so blessed to have you in our lives. You have shown us what true love is and that is amazing. Your family, all of them, love you to pieces and they always will, no matter what. You are such a lucky guy to have so many people thinking about you, talking about you, and cheering you on!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jayden!! We love you and looking forward to how you are going to grow and change in the coming year.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Jayden's 2 year old stats:
1. Official weight and height will be determined on Monday at his check-up, but I believe he weighs 25 lbs., and is maybe 33 inches long.
2. He is wearing a size 4 diaper and can let us know when it needs to be changed (in his opinion).24 month clothing and now I am starting to get 2t for the fall. He loves his crocs, size 6-7, and we will have to get a size bigger for winter I am sure!
4. He loves playing with toys and you can tell he is an only child. He can sit and play by himself for such a long time. He is back into playing with block, specifically Duplo Lego's, and loved to build tall towers. He loves his swing and will stand under it and jump when he wants to swing.
5. Jay is eating a lot better too. Unfortunately, he knows that McDonald's gives him fries and when we drive by he shouts "fries, fries, fies". He likes to sit at the table like a big boy and eat dinner with us as long as he isn't busy doing something else. I wish I had the energy to make him sit down to eat with us every night, but that is one promise I do have for our family. To eat dinner together, at the table, as much as possible.
6. Still loves milk and juice. I cut down the time his milk is heated in hopes to get him to start to like it cold. He also takes a few sips out of a real cup. He tried sweet tea the other night and loved it. We will have to keep that out of his hands!
7. Oh, those teeth. No more yet. We are waiting.
8. He still is obsessed with his crocs and wears them all over the place. We bought him another pair for his birthday so he could have some camo ones. I don't even think he has any camo to wear with them until fall comes. Oh, well. I think Daddy wanted them more.
9. We love sleeping in!!! Jayden loves his sleep and so do I! He sleeps from 9 to 8. Love it! When he wakes up he is so happy and waits a while before yelling to have someone get him. I have been so lucky that he hasn't climbed out of his crib yet, I am still waiting for that day! Naps are generally 3 hours long.
10. We all already know how much Jayden has grown and changed in the past two years. What a little blessing he is to all of us!

Happy Birthday, Jayden!!

Birthday Week: Day #4

It was hot today, but not as hot as yesterday. CNN reported that the heat index in Taylorville was 121 on Wednesday. So, what do you do on the hottest birthday week ever? Eat ice cream, dance to your favorite shows, and swim!
We enjoyed a scoop of ice cream from Del's Popcorn Shop today. The ladies there wished Jayden a "Happy Birthday" and he blew them a kiss bye. We ended up taking the ice cream home because he was making too big of a mess. It was good and as you can see we ate *every* *single* bite!
He also got his first-ever 2 year old birthday card in the mail from his Nana and PawPaw. Looks like he will get to eat some fries sooner than expected because he got a McDonald's gift card too.
He danced around to Dance-A-Lot-Robot several times and built some towers.
The best part of our day was swimming by far though!!
Once it started to cool down at 8:00 pm, we went swimming at Lilly's pool! Lilly, Adan, Reagan, Livia, Grandma, Jayden and I all splashed around. Lilly's Mom, Dad, and brother Travis were swimming too. Then Aunt Lori, Jake, and his friend stopped by for a quick swim.
Jayden was super brave and had so much fun jumping in the pool!

Then we found some floaties, a life vest, and a tube and fixed him up to swim like the big kids. What a super fun birthday week party!!
His plans for tomorrow? Play with Reagan, Adan, and Livia all day!!

Birthday Week: Day #3

This morning we were woken up by a phone call from a delivery company who said they would be at our house in 45 mins. An hour later, this truck showed up at our house.
They brought a giant box in the house for a special little boy.
After they left, we opened it up to see how many parts were inside and Jayden found a basketball.
After Daddy got home from wakeboarding Wednesday, he had a job to do!
Jayden loves his new house and cried when it was time to go to bed. He was just having too much fun going in, out, and shooting hoops. There are still a lot of stickers to put on, but that can wait until tomorrow.
His house really belongs outside, but I decided that it would be better if we left it inside for a while. This will give him something to do over the winter when I am stuck laying in a recliner! We *officially* have no more room for toys at our house!
Birthday week plans for tomorrow: Playing with his new house!

Birthday Week: Day #2

Today, we took it easy. We enjoyed some lunch along with Jayden's favorite show Mickey Mouse. Following that, Jayden enjoyed a 2.5 hour nap!
We went to DQ for some ice cream and Jayden tried his first bite of chocolate.
He got a little messy, but that's ok.
He took a bath and relaxed with his Daddy after a long day of playing blocks, trucks, kitchen, puzzles, and basketball. He finally was ready to go to his crib, he puckered up and gave his Momma and Daddy a kiss good-night. It was the first ever kiss he has given Daddy!
Tomorrow's plan: A special delivery will be coming from Poppy and Marcy so we will be waiting to see when it comes!

Twin A & B--10 weeks

See those two circle things down there? That would be Twin A and Twin B and their little heads at 10 weeks. One more week until we head back to Dr. V to see if they are still happy and healthy! Monday, I hit the 11 week mark, so only 5 more weeks until we find out if Jayden is going to have 2 brothers, 2 sisters, or one of each! As long as they are happy and healthy it doesn't matter if they are boys or girls, I am just going to be glad to start planning and picking out names for these two!

Birthday Week!!

A certain little boy is going to have a birthday at the end of the week, so today we started celebrating his birthday week!
After sleeping in until 8:45, we packed up and headed to Springfield for some fun at Knight's Action Park!
He was spoiled by the big kid friends he has and went down the slides, around the lazy river, over to the wave pool and even attempted the big yellow slide.
I don't think we will attempt the big yellow slide again until he is almost 3. It went a little too fast and he came down belly first! Happy Birthday week, Jayden!! The plan for tomorrow is a lunch date followed by a nice nap!

Christian County Fair

It is fair week in Christian County which means every one sets out for the CC fairgrounds for some junk food, animals, tractors, mullets, and a few rides.

After checking out the animals and eating the best corn dog ever, we headed for the giant slide!
Aaron, the photographer, forgot that we were going down the slide and didn't get a picture until the very end. Looks like we will be headed to the giant slide at the state fair this year for a retake! However, I got a cute picture of Henry and his Momma going down. Layne and his Dad went too fast for me to snap a shot of them.

After paying $4 to go down the slide which lasted 4 seconds, the boys found a trailer and had just as much fun, if not more, playing for free! We had a great time at the fair with our friends!!

2 Boys, 2 Haircuts

It was time for another haircut for both boys. Jayden was really good this time around and enjoyed his
sucker, almost the entire time. I have reserved suckers for haircuts only!

Tonight, Aaron was busy working between the basement and sunporch so Jayden hung out in his pack n' play for a little while. It was great. I got the kitchen cleaned, Jayden didn't fall down the basement stairs, and everyone was happy!

First Dr. Appt

On Tuesday, June 28th, I went for my first prenatal doctor appointment. Lucky for me, I got in a few days earlier than scheduled and Aaron was able to come with me. Thank goodness he was there because for some odd reason, I was a nervous wreck before we got called back. He is calm. I am not. It equals things out.

The conversation of the day went something like this:

Karen (the Sonographer): Hi Jodi, how are you?
Me: Great. You know what you are looking for today? Twins, right? (kinda joking, but not really)
Karen: Of course, Jodi. I know your family history. We always look for twins in your family!
Me: Ok, just checking.
Karen: There it is! The little baby, just one! Let's get a heartbeat...164. Hear it? (she continues to check around)
Aaron: I see it!
Jodi: Oh, thank goodness!! I have been praying for ONE happy, healthy baby!
Karen: (silence...which seemed like forever with a mouth dropped open)
Jodi: Is something wrong??
Karen: Um, honey,........there are TWO in there! You've got TWINS!!
Jodi: Shut the .... up.
Aaron: I see them both, Jodi. Right there. (Note: As calm as can be.)
Jodi: Shut up. I am so sorry for saying a bad word but I have no other words to say right now.
Karen: Oh, honey this is great! I have had people say A LOT worse to me. Don't worry. (she chuckles)
Jodi: Shut up.
Karen: There they are: Baby A and Baby B. Baby B was hiding way up there. Both with heartbeats of 164.
Jodi: Shut up.
Jodi: Aaron give me my phone right now. Dial my Mom.
Mom: Hello?
Jodi: Are you sitting down?
Mom: Ahhhhh! It is twins!!

The rest of the conversation, I really don't remember too much of it, but you get the point. We went from thinking it was two due to me not feeling so well (or a really bratty girl that was causing my extra attitude), settled on one when we saw the heartbeat, and then got surprised by the fact that there are TWO babies on the way, set to arrive early February (if I can make it that long)!

Karen was great. She didn't take my "shut ups" in the wrong way which in my world mean "no way".
We told some people in our family and a few friends right away. Some laughed. Some cried. Some just said "wow, that's crazy." We have adjusted to how our lives are going to change and are starting to save our money and buy diapers for three kids (thank goodness for Amazon Mom). I have enlisted in my great friends and family to borrow as much baby stuff as I can get my hands on. We have everything of Jayden's, but now we just need some doubles of the items that saved us with him!

Now, I have two quotes to live by:

"It may be a crazy life, but it is our life."
I think crazy is what the next five years, ok, twenty five years, of my life is going to be filled with, but I am sure I wouldn't want it any other way. I may have my days though and that is when the kids will be packing their bags and going to stay with their grandparents!

"If you want to hear God's laughter, tell him the plans you have for yourself."
I am a planner. I like plans. Actually, I love them and I get anxious when they don't work out. Twins were not in my immediate plans. Actually, one baby born late March was more of the exact plans. Things happened quicker this time around than I ever thought and that is perfectly ok. Now we are blessed to carry on the tradition of twins. Instead of our hearts doubling with love, they are going to triple. Not many people get to say they have had three hearts beating inside them at one time, but I do. My Mom did, my cousin, and so did my Grandma. What a neat picture we are going to have in the future!

Making their first appearance on the blog: Baby A and Baby B

You can kind of see a baby like figure in Baby A's picture. Baby B still looks a little funny. We head back to the doctor on July 25th for another sonogram to make sure that both babies are happy and healthy. I was hoping not to make the announcement of twins to the world until then, but big news in a small town travels faster than you will ever know! On a positive note, it only means more prayers for happy, healthy babies and a smooth pregnancy for me are headed our way and that is the most important aspect right now.

Now that you have seen them and know the story as well as the heartbeats of both babies.....what is your prediction? Two boys? Two girls? One of each?
