Playing at the Park....in his Easter clothes

We stopped by the park after church on Sunday to let Jayden run and have fun while we waited for Easter lunch. He had fun and so did I!!

Reagan is 7

Reagan turned 7 on Friday and today we celebrated. She was the happiest birthday girl I have ever seen.
You know, she waited her whole life for a DS. Seven years is a long time to wait! Happy Birthday, Reagan!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter!! Jayden was spoiled by the Bunny again this year.
His Nana came up last weekend and spoiled him with a basket full of toys to play with outside and some books.
We also went to see the Easter Bunny, which was not fine by J.
But, he was happy to find that the Easter Bunny did find his house again this year. The silly bunny filled up the bucket that his Nana gave him. I guess his baseball basket wasn't big enough. Oops!!
Jayden was so lucky! He got a new Leaptop, a football, some summer shoes, a few shirts, a Mickey DVD, Mickey book, and a new coloring book.
He also got the neat little table he is stading on and a giant case of diaper. Lucky boy. Now he can have his friends over for a nice playdate this summer and enjoy some lunch on the deck.
What a great Easter!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter.

21 Months Old and Counting

21 Months Old...WOW...time is going way too fast!!
This past month has been a very busy one for our little man with a lot of "firsts" that are pretty big for a little guy. He had his first surgery, first major knee scrape, and a lot of new first words. Wow, that is a lot to take in when you are only a 2 ft., 8 inch, 22 lbs., 9 oz. boy.

1. As I mentioned above, Jayden is 22 lbs., 9 oz. and 32" long. These official stats were taken at his physical before surgery. He is down in his weight since last month, but hopefully he will be gaining soon.
2. He is wearing size 4 diapers and size 18-24 month clothing. I recently took out his summer clothes from last year (12 months) and they still fit, just a little short. He had his 5th haircut this month too. He still doesn't like them!
3. His obsession with climbing has ceased a little. His true love now is basketball. He lives for watching basketball, playing basketball, seeing a basketball, wearing a basketball on his shirt, and saying the word basketball. He is obsessed.
4. You guessed it. His favorite toy is his basketball hoop and any ball that he can shoot. He is actually getting pretty good at shooting from long distances. Sometimes when he misses, he knocks down the hoop. I am not sure where he gets this anger from....maybe it is a "boy thing".
5. Tubes have played a major role in increasing Jayden's appetite. He likes to eat a lot more than he did before. The day after surgery he ate 2 bananas and 5 fish sticks for lunch. I honestly couldn't believe it.
6. Jayden must have a warm glass of milk as soon as he wakes up in the morning or his day could potentially be ruined.
7. One more tooth is poking through! Will it cause an ear infection?? I sure hope not!!
8. We have found the key to success at the grocery store. This includes going straight to the apples and getting two. Then proceeding to the bananas and getting a bunch. After that, I have about 20 minutes to get my shopping done while we talk. He has also started to enjoy sitting in the basket part of the cart. That makes me a bit nervous, but I go with it as long as he is sitting.
9. Sleeping. What sleep? We are back to working on that. I am hoping and possibly praying that the ear infection phase is over, he will begin getting back into his old habits. But I am not going to hold my breath.
10. This month, I have seen one of the biggest changes in Jayden compared to the last few months. The day after his tubes, he told me names of different shapes I didn't even know he knew. He said so many words much clearer than he ever had before. He has begun to truly give us real words that we can understand. To list them all would be a challenge, but I will tell you some of my favorites.
"I'm Jayden"
"I'm going outside. Bye"
"It's Mom, it's Dad"
"Dee Dee (Mickey), Donald, Pluto, Daisy"
"Han(d)y Many"
"It's a ball, it's a football, it's a baseball, it's a basketball" "Do it"
"Want an apple...I got two"
"My boons (balloons)"
"My socks, my shoes, my toes"

Happy 21 Month Birthday Little Jayden. We love you so much and in just three short months, we will be celebrating your 2nd birthday. I am guessing a Mickey Mouse cake needs to be at the top of my list!

Ouch!

On Sunday, the weather was perfect so we went to visit Lilly and take some pictures of her in her birthday clothes.
But, we had to take a break so she could run around with Jayden.
Then it was back to picture taking for me and playing basketball for Jayden.
He fell down on the concrete for the first time and skinned his knee. He got right back up and started playing ball again. It wasn't until bath time did he realize he was injured. We had to put a band-aid on his knee and he walked around like his leg was broke. Tonight after bath, he was back to being injured again and couldn't walk. He kept saying "oooh, oooh".

Jayden has TUBES!!

We headed to Springfield this morning at 6 am for Jayden's appointment for tubes. We got there a bit early so he played in the toy room and then it was time to go back. I had to bring the little camera so I can remember this event in his life.
He had to get his blood pressure taken which he did not like.
But, then we turned on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and he was OK.
They put some little bracelets around his ankle which really made him mad. Then it was time to go back to surgery.
Six minutes later, he was in recovery and had two tubes in place. He looked so tired and really just wanted his Momma and some milk. He got sick on the way home a few times, but once we were home, he settled in. He is stuffing his face full of lunch right now, but he hasn't taken a nap yet. We are sop happy that this process is over and hope for nothing but the best!
Get well soon, Jayden!!

He LOVES Basketball

We took Jayden to a playground on Wednesday night because the weather was perfect and his Daddy took the night off from working.
He ran around on the playground until he saw the basketball hoops. Then there was no more time for the playground.
He ran back and forth between the two hoops and would "shoot" a basket. Then the greatest thing ever happened. His Daddy lifted him up really high and he was able to make a "slam dunk".
It was so much fun that he gave his Daddy a hug.
Then he got to hang on the net.
And hang on the net again.
And again.
Tomorrow he will be hanging on any nets because this little all-star has a 6:50 am appointment for tubes. The day is finally here. We are sad he has to have surgery, but so happy that the battle of ear infections is close to being over.

Sunday Funday

Jayden and I were busy today. The weather was perfect and we had a lot planned. We headed to Springfield to help our little friends Payton and Madelyn celebrate their birthdays. Madelyn turned 1 today and Payton will be 3 tomorrow. After that, we headed to Washington Park to run. I also wanted to snap some pictures.

Mr. Shy Boy wouldn't look at me because the towers were ringing a tune and it was a little scary.
Then he discovered the flowers behind him. He ran around the grassy area of the park for a while before we headed home.
After eating a ton for dinner, we all headed to the park to play and feed the ducks.

We took turns going down the slide and running around. This was the first time Aaron was able to make it to the park with us this year.
J thought it was so funny when the ducks would swim after the bread. He loved it.

I love his fat little feet. They have been getting some fresh air this weekend. What I did notice about his fat little feet, they have grown and it is time for some new summer play sandals.

Some BUNNY got a new kitchen

Some bunny got an early Easter present from his Poppy and Marcy. He is now the proud owner of a new kitchen. He really liked using a bowl and a spoon to "stir chicken" as he says.

The toy room is starting to get really full. Good thing we have a few months before his birthday!

Oh, What a Week!

Oh, what a week!!! Last night, I took Jayden for his fifth haircut. It was getting way too long and I wanted his hair to be nice and short for his surgery next week. He hated it, of course, but he looked like such a big boy when we got home. He looked even cuter tonight when I got home from my extra-long day of work and he was in his monkey jammies and happy to see me. He is growing up way too fast!!!

This morning I gave him the last dose of his medicine, but then counted that we were actually shorted by two doses. STRESS!! I called the doctor's office and our FAVORITE doctor, Dr. Vlahos, called Jayden in 10 more days of antibiotics. She said his last ear infection was bad enough, that 10 more days will not hurt him. This means no more ear infections before his surgery. I couldn't be happier. She is simply the best pediatrician ever!!

So here is to new haircuts for all three of us, 10 more days of antibiotics, and 8 more days until Jayden's tubes. Oh, and to a weekend of just Jayden and Mommy. Daddy is off to help a friend celebrate his last weekend of being a bachelor. Our plans include a few naps, maybe a photo session, a birthday party for some friends, playing outside, and maybe I will get some school work accomplished or maybe I won't!

New Toy Room---He LOVES it!

When you get a made-over toy room....you just have to love it.
You can read a good book because you know exactly where to find them. You can sit in a basket that is just your size.
You can even put your toy basket away when your done playing.

Or look at a cool map of the United States and try to find where you live.
Sometimes when you have a made-over toy room, you just feel like sitting at your table that your Mom decorated all pretty for Easter.
But then you remember that you are a tough little boy and tough little boys don't just sit at the table and pose for a picture. Tough little boys see there is a basket full of eggs right in front of them that would look a lot better if they were all over the floor. Plus that way, your Mom will put away the camera and help you clean it up.
And that is what you do when you have a new made-over toy room. YOU PLAY!!!

Weekend Fun

The weather started to warm up this weekend so we headed to the park.
 Went down a few slides.
He played in the rocks and tried to eat a few.

Then had his best friend over to play. We changed into a t-shirt and shorts and enjoyed the 83 degree weather.

And I did a toy room make over today. Now Jayden has more room to play with his toys, his table to eat a nice lunch at and seating for a couple small friends.
