Adalyn and Amelia are FIVE

Today the twins turned FIVE! I am going to try to get back into the blogging world as I wish I had the past few years documented. A busy lifestyle prevented it, but we will try again.

The girls had an awesome day. They woke up to a birthday scavenger hunt and then we spent the day in town. More details to come later!

Adalyn & Amelia are THREE!

Goodness. It has been a LONG time since I have blogged. I am guessing that working full time, juggling three kids nearly on my own while Aaron builds a house and trying to keep up with life has tied me down.

However, birthdays are important. Very important.

Tonight, at 11:10 and 11:11 p.m. our little babies officially become three year olds! How three years has passed since the night they were born is unreal.

Dear Adalyn & Amelia-

Happy 3rd Birthday!! Three years has went by in a blink of an eye, but some of the days took longer than others! Over the last year, you have challenged us, made us laugh, made us cry, been the center of attention and most of all you have grown into little "preschoolers"!

Both of your love to draw, practice your letters, numbers and sing songs! Amelia, you are obsessed with the music on your ipad and Adalyn--you put up with it! There have been several times over the year where I find little smiley faces drawn on my wall--or the couch. That's your Adalyn! When I tell you that isn't a good choice--your feelings get hurt. Amelia, when we tell you to turn down the music, you say no and go about your day. This is the exact reason you both got headphones for your birthday!

When you were 2 1/2 we traveled down to cousin Amy's wedding in Georgia. You did very well considering how long it took us! Thank goodness we cut a few hours off the drive by staying at the lake house for a week! This summer you had a blast at the lake and loved the tube! We spent a lot of time at the waterpark as well. Poor Adalyn, you fell and got a little scar on your face. Sorry.

We also spent a lot of time watching Daddy build the new house. It is "Daddy's House" as everyone calls it. We have missed having daddy around, but at least we know he isn't far and his hard work is for all of us. I am sure when the house is done, we will have more time to play!

Playing and talking are things you are awesome at too. You both can hold a conversation with anyone. Know more words that I ever thought a 2-3 year old would know and ask questions. I am so happy you love when we read you books and finally, finally you girls play together.

This year was your GOLDEN birthday and we celebrated with everything gold and pink! It was lovely! You loved being sang to. Loved the treats. Loved the games, the people, the presents. Every single bit of it.

We love you more than you will ever know!

First Homework

Jayden had his first homework assignment of the year last week. He sat at the homework desk and got to work. Sisters bugged him a few times and I learned not to give the 24 pack of colored pencils. Too many choices!!!

He will have homework every Tuesday night with it being due back on Thursday. It is exciting to watch him learn!!

Growing Up!

They have been working on no diapers and got new sheets to celebrate. Doing great with no diapers during the day. Night time is hit or miss.

Love them and their love for princesses and the color purple and pink. So sweet!

Jayden is 5!

Wow! 5 years old!! The last 5 years has been the fastest five years of our lives. Granted, some days and weeks went terribly slow, but over all fast!

This is you at age 1!

                           Age 5

Dear Jayden--

Happy 5th Birthday to our favorite guy! You have grown up so much this year, it's incredible. Some things, such as your shy mannerisms, haven't changed, but you are getting better. You are trying new things and not being as "scared" of everything.

This year you enjoyed school five days a week all day. You learned how to be a better friend and all sorts of things kids learn in kindergarten. Going on "yellow" was devastating for you, but it only happened a few times. When you would see kids in your class, they would tell "Jayden!!!!" like you were on an episode of Cheers. Your dancing skills were superb as we saw at your preschool graduation. We believe that charm comes from Uncle Adam.

You played sports this year: basketball and baseball--both a love of yours. This summer you actually started to grow so I think basketball season next year will be a lot of fun! Daddy coached both because I make him and some day both of you will look back and thank me. Speaking of sports, you went to another Cubs vs. Cardinals game this spring. Lucky duck. People wait their whole life for that and you have been twice in 5 years.

The most important part of this year is that your love for your family has grown. You have always loved Mommy and Daddy and have cared for other people, but finally you are starting to show your love and not always hide. Sometimes you still do but it is getting better! You love your sisters so much now and they adore you. They think you are the coolest and they try to be like you. You are getting better about giving love to family we don't see often and talking around them. You still have a ways to go, but we are proud of you.

Happy 5th Birthday, Jayden!!! You had a busy day and I am sure that it is safe to say you loved it!

Love, Mom

Father's Day and Lake Visit

I am lucky to have some amazing men in my life. Not everyone is as lucky as me! I am loving the fact I get to watch two girls grow up and love their daddy just like I did when I was little. I also love watching Aaron love little girls, especially since he never had a sister!

The kids had a ball at the lake! More pics to come!

Fun with Friends

My best friend from high school, Sarah, is having a baby!! We were able to get together to celebrate the little bundle of joy. My best friend from grade school was there too!

Sarah is due today and will be induced on Jayden's birthday if the little one does not come on his or her own. This picture was taken the first weekend in June!
We also visited with my college roomies in June! I just love Christine and Melanie and their kids! So happy to be able to see them!

A Big Hole

It only took a couple of days! This was at the beginning of June!

Pre-K Graduation

What a fantastic year Jayden had at Blessed Sacrament! They ended the year with a special graduation. He looked so cute in the front row. The perks of being short, I guess!

Denver 2014

We were able to get a quick trip to Denver in over the weekend!

We were able to hang out with Adam and enjoy a day of skiing at Breckenridge!
Aaron was thrilled to spend another birthday on the snowy mountains!

We may be some of the only people who braved a long Illinois winter and then headed to more snow. Maybe someday Adam will move somewhere warm....

Reading to Sisters

Jayden loves to read to his sisters and make them pick out the pictures on the page! The girls try to be the first one to point to the picture when he says the word! It is pretty cute!!

Outside!!

It was finally warm enough to head outside! The kids had fun playing with their new rides from Santa!

The girls need a few lessons before they are 16!
